THIS weekend brings the commencement of the Hyundai A-League and even though the Mariners first match is set to take place at Parramatta Stadium, fans in yellow and navy will still be there to support.

The Yellow Army is the group of passionate supporters who you will find in Bay 16 at Bluetongue Stadium on match day.

Like most football fan groups around the globe the Yellow Army are vocal, passionate and travel for their beloved Central Coast Mariners. With the addition of the Western Sydney Wanderers to the league the men and women from Yellow Army gain an extra road trip this season.

This Saturday night the Mariners away fixture against the Wanderers is already guaranteed to have two full bus loads of Yellow Army support (plus one Official Mariners Coastal Liner Supporters Bus). With further fans expected to travel via car to Parramatta, the away bay at Parramatta Stadium ought to be well attended for round 1.

Indeed, just nine seats remain on the Mariners Official Coastal Liner Supporters Bus, with tickets available for purchase for just $23 return by clicking here. All fans are encouraged to gather in the away supporter bay at Parramatta Stadium to get behind the team!

We had a chat to Yellow Army-s spokesman Simon Fisher on how Mariners fans can get involved with their supporter group this season, and what-s in store from the Club-s active support this term.

What are the advantages of being involved with Yellow Army?
We don-t have Memberships, so one advantage is that it is free to be involved with our group. Fans can buy a ticket in the bay from Ticketek, and can simply come stand with us. We are a passionate group of Mariners fans who love supporting the team and anyone who gets involved with us will find that out quickly.

How people can keep up to date with everything Yellow Army is doing?
Our social media accounts are the best way for people to stay in touch with what we are doing, and to ask questions. We are on Twitter and Facebook.

What does the group have planned for round 1?
For round 1 we just plan to go and support the team as best we can. It will be nice to get a few hundred people down there as it-s their first game. We hope everyone will stand together, rather than be divided in different pockets around the Stadium. By standing together the team will see the numbers of people who have travelled for them.

What have you got planned for our first home game in round 2?
We are planning a number of activities for round 2 to support the team including a special display for the players. With the game against Perth being played in support of Pink Ribbon Day we may add in a pink theme to the display. We hope that this game is well attended by all Mariners fans.

What about the rest of the season?
Our plan is to grow the home support and get it back to what it was in the first few seasons. It-s nice that the players say it makes a difference but we want it to look like it really. We want to fill bay 16 and beyond again.

What would you say to anyone thinking about getting involved with the Yellow Army?
I would just say come and give it a go. We are just people supporting the team, wanting to make the atmosphere at Bluetongue and other Stadiums around the ground as good as possible.
