Staj: Crowd will be important at last home game for a month

Alen Stajcic has implored Central Coast fans to help turn Central Coast Stadium back into something of a fortress as the Mariners get set for the third and final game of a week-long home stand.

Due to constant rescheduling of the draw the team will play away from home for the next four weeks and although the next home match is listed for March 8th, the fixture is not yet locked in and unlikely to be against #F3Derby rivals Newcastle.

A small but loud crowd witnessed Wednesday’s scintillating comeback against Melbourne City on Matt Simon’s milestone night, and Stajcic made clear the importance of a vocal home backing ahead of Western United on Sunday.

“We love playing at Central Coast Stadium and in front of our home fans, and our home games so far this season have seen the atmosphere return,” he said.

“For many years Central Coast Stadium was a venue that teams didn’t want to visit, didn’t want to travel to apart from the scenery, and we want to turn it back into a place that is intimidating for the opposition.”

“This is the last opportunity the Mariners faithful has to see the team for at least a month, and I call on everyone to get to the Stadium on Sunday and help us keep this positive momentum going”

The Mariners beat Western United on the Coast last season in the only match between the teams at the venue, and a strong crowd could be on the cards this week with the Kids Go Free offer in play once again.

“It would be great for the team to see a big crowd out on Sunday, particularly after what we saw from the boys on Wednesday night, the courage they showed to come from behind.”

“We are the ‘Community Club’ and it’s so important that we are a team and a football club that the Central Coast Community can be proud of and want to get behind, and I really feel like the effort put in by the boys so far is helping us be that team.”
