NPL Wrap: Smylie strikes for undefeated Academy

Central Coast Mariners Academy striker, Jordan Smylie scored an impressive 80th minute goal for the second week running to claim all three points in round 2 of the PS4 NPL 2 against Mounties Wanderers.

It was the Yellow & Navy’s first home game of the season and they marked it with a 1-0 win.

The quiet game came to a head with 10 minutes to go and young Smylie repeated his heroics from the week before (except this time it resulted in a win). Creating space for himself at the top of the box, Smylie sent his shot into the top corner which ultimately proved to be the winner.

For Mariners fans, it was also great to see Hyundai A-League defender, Kye Rowles return from injury to play 90 minutes for Wayne O’Sullivan’s team.

Round 3 of the PS4 NPL 2 will see the Mariners Academy play away to Blacktown Spartans at Blacktown Football Park. Kick-off is 5:30pm and entry is FREE!
