Sunnyfield’s Annual Sports Day will be held on the Saturday 8 November at San Remo’s Camp Breakaway.

The sports day is designed to provide people with disability the opportunity to engage in a range of sports. This year will also include the special appearance of the Central Coast Mariners who will take Sunnyfield participants through a number of soccer drills and skills including a soccer match on a giant inflatable soccer pitch.

Activities have been designed to be inclusive of all levels of ability and to build participants’ social skills and self-esteem. There are over 32 Sunnyfield clients attending and 25 volunteers including Central Coast Mariners Chief Executive Officer, Mr Bruce Stalder, as well as past players and staff.

Sunnyfield programs are built around a person-centered approach and supporting clients to build independence, develop new interests and engage in decision making in all aspects of life. Sport is a powerful social and developmental tool and promotes the importance of a holistic lifestyle while facilitating true inclusion.

Sunnyfield CEO Caroline Cuddihy said: “The sports day is one of the social highlights of the year and Sunnyfield is particularly excited this year to be joined by the Central Coast Mariners. It is a great community initiative and helps Sunnyfield spread the important message of independence and maintaining health and fitness for those with disability. We have some huge soccer fans so the opportunity to meet Mariners representatives is a wonderful experience for clients.”

Central Coast Mariners CEO, Mr Bruce Stalder, added: “The Mariners are excited to be working with Sunnyfield disAbility Services, an organisation with a great focus on inclusion. Though we work in different fields, our organisations share many values, particularly a passion for the community and the intent to enrich the lives of a wide variety of people. As a Club celebrating its tenth anniversary, we are proud and very enthusiastic about working with great community organisation like Sunnyfield.”
