After going a goal down just before half time the Central Coast Mariners Youth have drawn 2-2 with Sydney FC Youth at Lambert Park.

It was a cagey opening 45 minutes that looked certain to go into the sheds a scoreless stalemate but Sydney FC’s Mani Gonzalez had other ideas who fired home the opener from a Christopher Zuvela through ball to take the lead in the 44th minute.

Ben Cahn’s half time speech had the Mariners Youth team come out breathing fire and it wouldn’t be long before the Yellow & Navy would fire back.

Six minutes into the first half the Mariners had they equaliser through Josh Bingham from the penalty spot.

Shortly after the away team had their deserved go ahead goal when Lachlan Wales imposed himself on the game to finish in the 55th minute at Lambert Park.

With all the momentum shifting to the Mariners the game looked certain to end in three points but heartbreak crept in with just two minutes remaining when Cristian Gonzalez fired low and hard against the run of play to equalise 2-2.

Full focus for Ben Cahn’s team turns to their second home match of the campaign against the Football Federation Centre of Excellence this Saturday at 10:30am.
