A sea of over 200 primary school students from 12 Coast schools descended on Bateau Bay-s EDSACC Oval today for the annual EnergyAustralia Central Coast Mariners schools gala day.

Despite the heat, all participants who were in either year three or four, left with huge smiles as well as a showbag courtesy of EnergyAustralia and the Mariners.

For the record, Narara Primary School took out the major awards in both the girls and boys divisions, but the visits and signing sessions from Mariners players throughout the day was the highlight.

“It-s great to see the kids out here enjoying themselves, and getting exercise at the same time,” said Mariners Captain Alex Wilkinson.

“It-s a great initiative of the club and the boys all really enjoy getting out here and seeing the smiles on the kids faces.

“There was a fair bit of talent actually from a few of the kids but at the end of the day its about having fun and that-s exactly what they-ve been doing.”

The Mariners are proud to be associated with schemes like this, and both the club and EnergyAustralia are committed to providing such opportunities for kids up and down the Central Coast.

“The gala day showed the value of the community partnership with the Mariners,” said EnergyAustralia-s Managing Director George Maltabarow.

“Our partnership is all about building stronger links at every level from school grounds to the football fields across the Central Coast.

“That-s clear for all to see today, with these primary school students learning new skills and enjoying themselves at the gala day.”
