Central Coast Mariners will work with Gosford Race Club on a number of joint promotions throughout the forthcoming Hyundai A-League season after a new alliance between the two prominent Central Coast organisations was finalised on Tuesday.

Central Coast Mariners Group General Manager, Mr Peter Turnbull, and Head Coach, Graham Arnold, joined Gosford Race Club Chairman, Mr Michael Cusick, and Chief Executive Officer, Mr James Heddo, at the leading provincial Race Club to recognise the partnership.

Mr Cusick said the deal – which includes a Central Coast Mariners Race Day in Gosford on Sunday 9 February 2014 – promises to provide both organisations with a variety of benefits.

“The Gosford New Year-s Eve Festival featuring Gosford Race Club, Central Coast Mariners and the waterfront fireworks is already the biggest event on the Central Coast, and was recently selected as a Finalist in the 2013 Qantaslink Hunter & Central Coast Awards for Excellence in Tourism,” Mr Cusick said.

“By growing this partnership we are ensuring that we further strengthen our ties with the local community and can align our businesses to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.”

Mr Turnbull outlined that the Club-s agreement with Gosford Race Club will enable the Mariners to further promote its brand on a local and national scale.

“Football and racing may be very different sports in nature but they are both thrilling to experience live at the Stadium or at the track,” Mr Turnbull said.

“So it is a natural fit that Gosford Race Club and Central Coast Mariners come together. We understand one another well and will be looking to provide a variety of entertainment options and packages to enable Central Coast locals and visitors to the region to enjoy some truly great sporting experiences.”

The Club-s Race Day at Gosford Race Club on Sunday 9 February 2014 will ensure a massive weekend of summer sport for fans on the Central Coast, with the Mariners hosting Ange Postecoglou-s Melbourne Victory the night before.

Central Coast Mariners will commence their Hyundai A-League 2013/14 campaign against Western Sydney Wanderers at Bluetongue Stadium on Saturday 12 October 2013.
