Mariners charity fixture announced

Central Coast Football together with the Central Coast Mariners will support the Cancer Council’s ‘Call to Arms’ campaign via a charity match to be held at Pluim Park on Monday 13 June.

Central Coast Football together with the Central Coast Mariners are pleased to announce the details of the annual charity match between the 2010/11 Hyundai A-League runners up and the local Men-s Representative Team, Central Coast FC.

The match will be played on Monday 13 June – the Monday of the long weekend – at Pluim Park, Lisarow, with proceeds on the day going to the Cancer Council-s ‘Call to Arms- campaign.

Last years game saw the Mariners finish as clear winners but with Central Coast FC currently positioned in the top half of the NSW Super League this promises to be a tighter contest.

The Mariners will use the game as a warm up for their forthcoming international friendly fixture against Scottish powerhouse Celtic FC at ANZ Stadium on Saturday 2 July.

One of Europe-s most decorated club sides, ‘The Bhoys- from the green and white half of Glasgow arrive in Australia late this month for a three match pre-season tour.

Central Coast Mariners mentor, Graham Arnold, said the match would provide a timely test for his side at the one-month mark of their preseason campaign, leading into their clash with Celtic.

“The Celtic match will give us the opportunity to see how our players handle the pressure of playing against guys with true international pedigree,” Arnold said.

“Celtic have quality players and it will be an invaluable experience for all of our players.”

Louie Bozanic, younger brother of Mariners Olyroos star Oliver Bozanic, is set to line up for Central Coast FC on Monday 13 June. However, Louie and Oliver are unlikely to pit wits against one another on this occasion due to Oliver-s Qantas Olyroos commitments.

The curtain raiser to Central Coast FC against Central Coast Mariners will be the annual North v South Premier League Challenge kicking off at 2pm.

Gates will open at 1pm with full bar and canteen facilities available. Entry will be $10 for adults, and $5 for concession and students. Kids under 16 will be permitted free entry.

Meanwhile, Central Coast Mariners will be releasing details of their new membership packages in coming weeks, with football fans to be offered a variety of member options for 2011/12 Hyundai A-League season.
