After a gutsy win over the Macarthur Rams away from home the Central Coast Mariners Academy men have continued their run at the top of the NPL 2 Club Championship standings.

Unfortunately for the women, a wash-out resulted in their crucial clash against Sydney Olympic to be postponed.

Wins for the Mariners Academy men in the 18’s, 20’s and first grade now puts them 37 points ahead of second-placed Mt Druitt Town Rangers on the Club Championship ladder.

A dominant performance on Saturday evening by the first-grade boys resulted in a 3-0 win over the Macarthur Rams thanks to a brace by Matias Paz and a strike to Aamir Abdullah.

The Mariners Academy boys opened the scoring in the 25th minute when Paz swooped on a defensive mix up and finished smartly. Paz had his brace five minutes after the half time break when Michael Glassock danced along the by-line and cut a perfect ball to the striker in the box.

Then, 10 minutes before full time, Paz turned creator when he played a through ball from halfway to release Abdullah who rounded the keeper and put the result beyond doubt at 3-0.

This Saturday, the Mariners Academy host Gladesville Spirit at Pluim Park in round 19 of the NSW NPL 2. First grade kicks off at 4pm and entry is FREE!
