In our Hyundai A-League countdown series, we look at the men who make up the Central Coast Mariners squad… from player number 23, down to player number 1. Today, we look at tough tackling defensive midfielder, Rostyn Griffiths.

8. Rostyn Griffiths

23-year-old libero Rostyn Griffiths was born in the United Kingdom however grew up in Perth, Australia, beginning his football education with Joondalup.

In 2003, Griffiths signed trainee papers with Blackburn in the English Premier League, moving through the ranks at Rovers in the ensuing years.

After loan spells with Gretna in Scotland and Accrington Stanley in England, Griffiths returned home to ply his trade with Adelaide United in 2009.

A season at North Queensland Fury followed before Griffiths joined the Mariners for the 2010/11 campaign. A regular under coach Graham Arnold last season, the youngster possesses superb skill and sound defensive ability, all of which combine to make him an integral member of the Mariners playing squad.
