Central Coast Mariners interim Head Coach, Tony Walmsley has assured fans and members that John Hutchinson will lead the team into battle on Sunday afternoon against Melbourne City as a part of the yellow and navy’s starting line up. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00pm.
The starting berth will give Hutchinson the opportunity to become the equal most capped Hyundai A-League player of all time alongside close friend Danny Vukovic and former Newcastle Jet Matt Thompson.
In the lead up to tomorrow’s match against City, Walmsley made the statement and hopes the fans and members turn out in numbers to support Hutch in his milestone occasion at the idyllic bayside arena.
“Hutch will be selected on merit like everyone else but for now, he will lead the team out on Sunday,” Walmsley said.
A humble Hutchinson is approaching Sunday’s fixture like any other match and is looking forward to getting back to doing what he does best for the Mariners.
“I’m just looking forward to getting back on the field and doing what I’ve done for the Mariners for the past 10 years which is win football games and to be able to lead the team out tomorrow is another positive,” Hutchinson said.
