Despite taking a first half lead the Central Coast Mariners failed to secure their third consecutive win after Fraser Park came home strong to lock down a 3-1 victory at Pluim Park.

Branko Culina’s Fraser Park had a 1-1 draw with the Mounties Wanderers last week, and are unbeaten in their last four matches.

After an even first 30 minutes, the first real chance fell to the visitors as a free-kick on the edge of the area was struck by a Fraser Park striker but Adam Pearce made a fantastic save to keep the scores level. Eight minutes later Pearce was again called to action who made another great save.

Shortly after it was the home team who drew first blood from a set piece. Adam Berry fired home from a corner to earn the lead in the 41st minute.

Although the lead wouldn’t last long and Fraser Park hit back two minutes later, after a thunderous shot from Riberio left Pearce with no chance in goals, sending it straight into the top corner and leveling the scores before half time.

Fraser Park hit the lead in the 51st minute after a scrap in the 18-yard-box fell to the feet of Sansom who calmly finished to make the score 2-1.

Fraser Park went 3-1 ahead in the 67th minute thanks to a well-placed finish from Todoroski, which was sent into the far top corner from close range.

The Academy boys nearly made it 3-2 in the 75th minute when Reece Papadimtrios hit the ball on the volley on the edge of the box. The ball looked destined for the back of the net but it didn’t quite dip quickly enough, only just sailing over the crossbar.

Papadimtrios had another good chance soon after from a free kick but it was saved by the Fraser Park keeper. Substitute Cooper Buswell nearly scored on the follow up but it took a deflection and resulted in a corner.

The Academy fought until the final whistle but couldn’t quite find the back of the net, being defeated by a well drilled Fraser Park.
