Y-League Preview: Mariners Youth vs Wanderers Youth

The Central Coast Mariners Youth welcome the Western Sydney Wanderers Youth to the Centre of Excellence in what will be a crucial match for the Yellow and Navy as they remain on the hunt for top spot in Group B.

Jonathan Aspropotamitis is expected to start in the side as he continues his recovery and regains match sharpness for his much-anticipated return to the A-League. After putting in a superb 65 minutes last week against Sydney FC Youth, Aspropotamitis will be looking to play the whole 90 minutes for the Mariners Youth. A significant milestone in his return from a ruptured ACL.

In attack, Peter Kekeris has been a big threat to many defences with his quick feet and ability to put in a deadly cross, but Ray Junna will need to do it without Kekeris this weekend who has earned a well deserved call up to the A-League travelling squad to Wellington.

The Mariners Youth will be wanting to use the home ground advantage to get back to winning ways and put pressure on top spot Sydney FC. The last time the Mariners met the Wanderers Youth, the Yellow and Navy took all three points after an important 2-1 win. The Central Coast Youth also started the season after a superb come from behind 3-2 win away to Canberra which saw Josh Macdonald and Alec Vinci on the scoresheet.

The Western Sydney Wanderers Youth are coming off a strong performance after defeating the Jets Youth 3-0. They will be itching to set the record straight after their defeat to the Mariners earlier on in the season. The Wanderers are joint top of the group after two successive wins and will be wanting to extend their lead as well as stay competitive with rivals Sydney FC.
