Tadrosse signs on for short-term

Australian youth international Chris Tadrosse has been drafted into the Central Coast Mariners- squad until mid-November as short-term injury cover for fellow left sided livewire Dean Heffernan, in a significant boost to the Mariners- playing stocks ahead of what looms as a crucial Hyundai A-League period.

Tadrosse, 23, recently returned to Australia after two years in Europe, where he last played for Borussia Mönchengladbach II in Germany-s fourth-tier Oberliga Nordrhein throughout the 2007/08 domestic season.

Prior to this stint, Tadrosse enjoyed a short stay with KFC Uerdingen, who also play in the Oberliga Nordrhein, after contributing eight appearances to the Melbourne Victory-s inaugural Hyundai A-League season

Most notably, Tadrosse was a cornerstone member of Australia-s 2005 FIFA Under-20 World Cup campaign in the Netherlands, where he made an appearance in each of Australia-s group matches as part of a squad that also included new Mariners team-mate Danny Vukovic and a host of players that recently starred for the Qantas Under 23-s in Beijing.

“Chris has been training with us for close to a month now and during such time, our coaching staff have been most impressed by his work ethic, character and the qualities that he will introduce to our squad,” said Mariners Executive Chairman Lyall Gorman.

“As we-ve learned in the past, the success of a season doesn-t rest on eleven players, but on an entire squad and to that end, by introducing Chris to our squad we-ve added a top-quality talent that improves the depth at our disposal considerably.”

Tadrosse-s capture increases the number of youth or senior internationals in the Mariners- 24-man squad to fifteen and provides Football Manager Lawrie McKinna with improved options going forward and, in particular, on the left hand side where Tadrosse has so excelled in the past.

An attacking outlet of a more diminutive nature to the other midfielders currently on the Mariners- books, Tadrosse is in line to be selected for the Mariners- clash against Adelaide United at Hindmarsh Stadium on Friday and will be eligible for selection until and including the Mariners- Round 11 date at Bluetongue Stadium, also against Adelaide United.

“I-ve been away from the Hyundai A-League for two seasons now but have been keeping an eye on proceedings and it-s fantastic to have been given another opportunity to contribute to this very exciting competition,” said Tadrosse.

“The Mariners have been one of the more successful clubs since the beginning and having been introduced to their set up and to their playing group it-s easy to see why.

“I-m excited to be a part of this great club and this great team for what is a very important part of the season.”

The Mariners- Hyundai A-League 2008/09 campaign continues at the Hindmarsh Stadium home of AFC Champions League semi finalists Adelaide United on Friday, 3 October. Kick off is at 8pm AEST.

The Mariners are next at Bluetongue Stadium on Sunday, 19 October, when they host the Wellington Phoenix in Round 8. Kick off is at 3pm.
