CENTAL Coast Mariners Head Coach Graham Arnold has named an extended 21-player squad for this Saturday-s F3 Derby against Newcastle Jets.
Arnold has included in form midfielder Michael McGlinchey in his initial squad. McGlinchey returned to Mariners training today having excelled with the New Zealand National Team against Tahiti over the past week.
McGlinchey this morning spoke of his delight in scoring twice for the All Whites on Tuesday in Christchurch.
“It was a must win game again for us,” he said. “You can-t allow any slip-ups in these types of games so to get two goals is nice for myself.”
“Hopefully I can take the goals that I scored there (in Christchurch) into my Club form.
“It-d be nice to get a couple early in the season and see where it can take me from there, but it-s (the F3 Derby) an important game and hopefully we can get the three points.”
McGlinchey added: “It-s always nice to play them (Newcastle Jets). They always have good support and we-ll have our fans up there as well, so it-ll be a tough game for us and they-ve just come off the back of a good win, so we know what to expect from them. They-re always a tough team, but we-ll have our game plan ready.”
