The Central Coast Mariners departed for New Zealand this morning to face Wellington Phoenix and we’ve got the squad news ahead of Saturday’s clash.
It’s a young Central Coast Mariners team that will travel across the ditch with the responsibility of midfield falling to 19-year-old Adam Berry & Liam Rose after Mickael Tavares was ruled out with an ankle injury. Nick Montgomery has also responded well from his hamstring injury on the training track this week and will be given every chance to feature in Hyundai A-League round 10.
Another young player who has continued to impress Paolo on the training track is Foxtel National Youth League utility, Ryan Peterson who will travel to Waikato and provide extra options in both defence and attack.
In the attacking stocks, Kwabena Appiah has been called into Okon’s squad this week to pressure Fabio Ferreira, Trent Buhagiar and Connor Pain for a position on the wing.
Defensively, Jacob Poscoliero will travel to Hamilton which creates selection headaches for Okon with both Jake McGing and Harry Ascroft featuring on the score sheet this season from centre back.
With the Yellow & Navy looking to put last week’s result against the Western Sydney Wanderers behind them Okon’s team have a prime opportunity to take three points home from Wellington Phoenix in New Zealand.
