QANTAS Socceroos Head Coach Holger Osieck has selected talented Mariners youngsters Trent Sainsbury and Mitchell Duke for a National Team training camp to be held on the Central Coast next week.

The Australia boss has selected 12 Hyundai A-League based players for the camp as he continues to consider his options ahead of June-s vital 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Japan, Jordan and Iraq.

The training camp will be held in conjunction with a Qantas Young Socceroos training period.

It is the first time both Sainsbury and Duke have been selected by Osieck for a National Team training camp.

The German mentor said he is eager to work with the players on the pitch next week.

“We currently have two groups of players, those that are still playing in their domestic leagues and those from Australia that are in their off-season,” Osieck said.

“The purpose of this training camp is to assess the physical standard of the players out of season and get them to a similar level compared to the other players.”

The players from both squads will hold an open training session at Pluim Park, Lisarow from 4:30pm on Wednesday 8 May 2013, with an autograph signing session from 4pm.

The Mariners will also have representation in Qantas Young Socceroos group of players, with defender Hayden Morton selected by Paul Okon for another practice period with the squad.

Okon-s side are currently preparing for the upcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup which will be held in Turkey from 21 June to 14 July, 2013.
