COAST FM is pleased to announce that Trent Sainsbury has won the ‘Coast FM Fruit 4 All Player of the Season’ for his outstanding contribution to the Central Coast Mariners’ 2012/2013 Hyundai A-League campaign.

This is the third season the award has been given and Sainsbury follows previous winners Michael McGlinchey (2011/12) and Joshua Rose (2010/2011).

Voting for the award occurs after every regular season match. The Coast FM analysts cast their votes via a three-two-one system, with the man of the match receiving the highest points possible. The votes are then accumulated, with the players with the most points at the end of the campaign receiving the prize.

Sainsbury narrowly edged Daniel McBreen, Nick Montgomery and Michael McGlinchey for the award.

Coast FM’s Chief Football Analyst, Michael Kmet, praised Sainsbury for an outstanding season.

“Trent Sainsbury has been terrific in a brilliant season for the club,” Kmet said.

“Trent has shown he is one of the league’s brightest prospects by helping his side concede the second least goals this season. He has demonstrated composure beyond his years up against some of the big names of the Hyundai A-League competition such as (Alessandro) Del Piero, (Emile) Heskey, (Shane) Smeltz, (Besart) Berisha and (Archie) Thompson.”

Sainsbury was awarded his trophy on Thursday morning following the team-s recovery session.
Recognition of his outstanding season caps a great 24 hours for the young defender. Sainsbury scored the winner in last night-s 2-1 AFC Champions League match against China-s Guizhou Renhe in Gosford.
