Ruon Tongyik insists Maitland won't be taken lightly
New Central Coast Mariners central defender Ruon Tongyik fronted the media at Maitland Sports Ground on Monday and insisted that his side won't be taking the Magpies lightly.
With a competitive debut for the Mariners in his sights, Tongyik says that the Mariners will leave nothing on the pitch come Wednesday night.
“We’re really excited, especially for a competitive game," Tongyik said. "We’ve obviously had a few friendly games; it is also good to get a few minutes into the legs as well, but this is the game we are looking forward to. It's going to be tough and competitive.
“He’s been giving us a lot of confidence and not to take anything lightly and know that they’re a good team. We just want to be able to play our style and give everything that we have.
FFA Cup expectations...
“Alen spoke to us about the previous years with the club not having a good run but coming into this game he has given us a lot of confidence and we’re taking it one game at a time. We want to come here, get the job done and look forward to the next one.
“There’s a lot of new faces in the team so it's going to be a good test for us and especially with the style Staj wants us to play. All the boys want to give everything they have in this game.
“We’ve analysed them, seen their strengths and positive things that we can work on and things that we can get them with.
First competitive fixture
“Everyone is up and running and really excited to get going, especially to put the Central Coast top on and represent the club and give everything.
“It’s going to be a really challenging game but if we stick to the way we play and give everything we have we should be able to get the job done," Tongyik said.
