RAMPAGING Central Coast Mariners left back Joshua Rose is alert to the threat posed by crafty Melbourne Heart forward Josip Tadic in Friday-s round 11 clash between the sides at Bluetongue Stadium.

Following the Mariners- final training run before Friday-s fixture, Rose explained that he has been impressed with the Croatian-s contribution to the Heart cause this campaign.

“I-ve been impressed with Tadic,” Rose said. “He looks quite decent on the ball and quite handy around the box, so we-ve got to be careful of him.”

Rose added that he and his Central Coast teammates, despite sitting first on the A-League ladder, won-t be taking seventh-placed Melbourne Heart lightly.

“Everyone-s confident for tomorrow night-s game, but Arnie (Mariners Head Coach Graham Arnold) keeps telling us not to be complacent, and not to rest now. We-ve got to keep working hard and trying to better ourselves,” he said.

“They-ve had a couple of good results leading into this game, and we-re expecting a tough game from them.”

“They seem to keep possession of the ball well, they play some good football and they-ve got some good attacking players up front that are quite dangerous at times, so we-ve got to be quite careful.”

Golgol Mebrahtu scored his first Hyundai A-League goal last round when Heart won 1-0 over Perth Glory at AAMI Park, and Rose said he is pleased for the young forward.

Rose identified the 22-year-old ace as another player the Mariners would need to shut down when Heart have possession of the ball.

“Young Golgol will probably come off the bench at some stage so he-s very direct, he-s got pace and credit to the young lad he scored his first goal last week so he-ll be full of confidence,” Rose said.

Rose will celebrate his 31st birthday on Sunday, and is hoping for a win to kick start a weekend of celebrations with his family.

“I don-t think I-ve had a Friday night home game since I-ve been here so it-s going to be a good feeling,” he said. “Hopefully we can get the three points and I can kick back and enjoy the weekend!”
