Central Coast Stadium will play host to a top of the table clash on Monday night as the Mariners welcome Macarthur FC in Match Week 11 of the A-League season.

Alen Stajcic’s side can move seven points clear of the league newcomers with a win, while the Bulls will pull within a single point if they take the chocolates on the night.

KYE ROWLES’ PERSONAL CONNECTION TO #PINKROUND

The game is part of a much larger day, with the Mariners celebrating their ninth annual #PinkRound, having raised more than $100,000 for Cancer Council NSW across the previous eight years.

The previous meeting between these two teams was a 2-0 win for the Mariners in Campbelltown as Danny DeSilva and Jordan Smylie struck, and Smylie is an inclusion to the squad for today’s game having spent several weeks on the sidelines with a knee injury.

After traveling back from Perth the team have knuckled down in preparation to face the Bulls, and Stefan Nigro spoke on Around the Grounds on SEN this past Saturday about the confidence in the team as they approach matches.

“I think the group, the culture, the belief we’ve got in each other is of the highest order,” Nigro said.

“Every game we go into we have belief in what we do, it comes from the coaches as well and you can see us, every game we’re fighting for one another, we’re there for one another and we’ve got a lot of quality and those things mixed together is why we are where we’re at.

“If you look around the team we’ve got leaders everywhere. Matt Simon, Ollie, Birraz, they all have quality and experience both in the A-League and overseas.”

“They’ve been in winning teams, then mixed with the middle aged boys who have played in the A-League a fair bit and then there’s the young boys who are great as a group themselves.”
