Ahead of the Central Coast Mariners opening round clash against the Newcastle Jets, Paul Okon has named a provisional 18-man-squad after Thursday’s training session. Kick-off on Saturday is 5:35pm at Central Coast Stadium.

In great news for Mariners fans, 9 of Paul Okon’s 11 new recruits are available for selection and are eligible to make their Hyundai A-League debut against our fierce rivals, the Newcastle Jets.

Unfortunately, young defender Kye Rowles has succumbed to a minor knee complaint after impressing during the pre-season and will miss round one.

Andrew Hoole will also miss the chance to debut for the Mariners against his former club due to a yellow card accumulation (suspension) which carries over from last season.

Storm Roux will also miss the Mariners’ season-opener with a lower back complaint that made him ineligible for New Zealand selection and ultimately unavailable for Hyundai A-League round one.

19-year-old Terrigal junior, Lachlan Wales has been training full time with the Mariners’ first-team and is in contention to make his first appearance at Central Coast Stadium for the Yellow Navy.
