As the NPL season draws to a close the women aim to remain in the top five as they travel to take on Inter Lions whilst the men will be fighting to stay alive as they host Hills United.

Central Coast Mariners Academy vs. Hills United

The men’s Academy host Premiership hopefuls Hills United to Pluim Park in a Sunday afternoon clash.

After a draw away from home last week, Nick Montgomery’s squad will be keen to go one better as they head into the business end of the NPL season as well as Foxtel Y-League planning. Michael Katsoulis, Joey Jevtic and Jordan Smylie have the potential to cause problems for the Hills’ defensive line, whilst defensive asset Alec Vinci has been solid as well. The men currently sit ninth on the table but sit in fifth on the club championship with both the U18s and U20s performing well.

Hills arrive at Pluim Park with the most formidable attack in the NPL 2 with 48 goals so far, this season, scoring 14 in their last four games. The dangerman for Hills United is front man Daniel Fogarty who has scored 5 goals in his last 5 games. Wide men Jordan Parfait and Alexander Vlismas have performed well, helping assist Fogarty on several occasions. Hills are chasing top spot North Shore Mariners on the table but only sit two points above the Mariners on the Club Championship in fourth.

Hills United currently own the bragging rights between the two sides after having beaten the men’s Academy 1-0 earlier this season.

Last week’s academy side: Aidan Munford (GK), Maximilien Balard, James Bayliss, Matthew Hatch, Joey Jevtic, Michael Katsoulis, Dylan Ruiz-Diaz, Jordan Smylie, Alec Vinci (c), Dan Hall.

Inter Lions vs. Central Coast Mariners Academy Women

The women’s Academy are back on the road this weekend as they travel to Concord to take on an Inter Lions side desperate to get a result.

It was a wild game last week for girls with three late goals and two red cards confining the academy to a defeat at home. Dan Barrett will be facing a selection headache with both Jordyn Drysdale and Brooke Miller suspended. This is a must win game for the women as they only sit one point above Marconi in fifth spot. It’s no different for the Club Championship with the academy girls also sitting in fifth place.

Its’s been a difficult season for Inter Lions with only one victory for the season. They’ll be hoping for a surprise result as they head into their last home game for the year. The Lions sit all alone on the bottom of the table but sit in eleventh on the Club Championship due to a point deduction given to Southern Branch FC.

The girls smashed five past Inter Lions last time these sides met, and Dan Barrett will be hoping for the same as they aim to stay in the top five.

Last week’s academy side: Rhiannon Hines (GK), Gabrielle Blanch (c), Leisel Collins, Nina Collins, Jordyn Drysdale, Jade Mcatamney, Kaitlin Murphy, Elizabeth Shorter, Mikala Tucker, Danielle Wise, Brooke Miller.
