The Central Coast Mariners Academy have kicked-off their PS4 NPL 2 season with a 2-2 draw away from home against Rydalmere Lions.

Goals to Lachie Wales & Jordan Smylie were enough to claim a draw for the Mariners Academy in their first game of the PS4 NPL 2 season.

After a quiet first half, the game sprung to life in the dying stages of the first half which saw both teams score.

Amer Abdullah finished the afternoon with two assists to his name and his first came in the 44th minute when he played to Lachie Wales who made no mistake with the finish.

Just before the break, Rydalmere equalised through Michael Konestabo.

Rydalmere then took the lead for the first time in the 55th minute when Mitchell Gibbs fired into the bottom corner to make it 2-1.

With 10 minutes left on the clock, the young Mariners hit back to claim a point when Abdullah again played creator and found Jordan Smylie. Smylie, with plenty to do, made space for himself and put his shot in the top corner to level the wagers at 2-2.

This Sunday our Academy boys host their first home game of the season at Pluim Park against the Mounties Wanderers. Kick-off is 6pm and entry is FREE!
