Rose returned from injury in Hyundai A-League round 4 against Sydney FC and has grown from strength-to-strength since picking up a knee injury during the back end of pre-season.
The 33-year-old utility spoke with local media after today’s training session about the atmosphere the Western Sydney Wanderers bring to town and the Mariners’ intention to put on a strong performance in front of the home supporters.
The last time the Wanderers fronted up at Central Coast Stadium, Rosey scored the opener less than two minutes after kick-off. The former Brisbane Striker hopes to replicate that performance on Sunday night.
“We need a win, we’re playing at home and if I can put in a good performance and we can get the result as a team then that would be fantastic,” Rose said.
“The RBB have been fantastic since the Wanderers started, whenever we play them on the Coast they come in plenty of numbers, it creates a good vibe which is fantastic to play in front of.
“To be honest, as you get older you block everything out but at times during the game you look around and take it in, it creates a great atmosphere.
“The body’s not too bad, the knee is still a bit sore after games but I’m getting there with Brice, Nealo & Hutch looking after me where I’m nearly at 100%.
“I’ve been playing left back, Mickey Neill has been out with a little quad injury but he’s back firing at the moment but it depends what happens in the next few days but there’s plenty of options and I’m ready to play wherever I get put.
“Mitch Austin started running today, so we’ll see how he pulls up and where I play could depend on that, we’ve got a lot of boys to fill a lot of positions and everyone’s pushing for a spot.
“The Wanderers have four wins in a row, the table doesn’t lie, they’re a very well structured side, it’s going to be a tough game and should make for a great battle I think and we’re not going to back away.
“We’ll press them high up, hopefully force a few mistakes and hopefully get a few goals in front of our home fans.
“They like to keep the ball around in the back and we don’t want them to dominate us on our home pitch so we will press them high up, try and win the ball and punish them.”
This Sunday the Central Coast Mariners are supporting White Ribbon. White Ribbon is Australia’s only national, male led campaign to end men’s violence against women and works to change attitudes and behaviours that lead to and perpetuate men’s violence against women by engaging and enabling boys and men to lead social change.
