Central Coast Mariners Members and supporters could be found in abundance at Bluetongue Stadium last Sunday, when fans of the yellow and navy warmed up for the new Hyundai A-League season at the Mariners Fans Day.

Over 1,000 of the Mariners faithful were treated to a two-hour extravaganza at the Mariners- picturesque bayside home on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon, two days after the Mariners began their season four charge with a 1-1 draw away to the Newcastle Jets.

Goal scoring hero and recent Australian Olympian Matt Simon was among the star attractions, with the Mariners playing group simply overwhelmed by the seemingly endless requests for autographs throughout the day.

2GO were broadcasting at the venue throughout the day and were instrumental in attracting such huge numbers to Bluetongue Stadium.

“On behalf of our playing group and everyone at the Mariners, I-d like to extend a huge thank you to all of our Members and supporters that came out to Bluetongue Stadium on Sunday for what was a truly memorable day,” said Mariners Executive Chairman Lyall Gorman.

“Our playing group are well aware of just how much the Central Coast community is behind them, but to see such outstanding and colourful support up close was a tremendously uplifting and positive experience for all concerned.

“I have no doubts that the support on show last Sunday will have inspired our team ahead of Saturday-s opening home match of the new season, where we hope to see everyone back at Bluetongue Stadium and in even greater numbers to officially begin our season four campaign.”

The Mariners- Hyundai A-League 2008/09 campaign continues at their Bluetongue Stadium home this Saturday, 23 August, when they host southern rivals Sydney FC. Kick off is at 7pm.
