McKinna: “Big announcement”

A BIG question from the fans is when the new kit will be released. Look out at the end of next week for a big announcement around the new kit!

IT’S been a busy few weeks since the last Lawrie-s Lowdown.

The boys have started playing friendlies and put in a great performance against Central Coast Select last week winning 7-0. Unfortunately I was the coach of the Select side and was on the wrong side of the 7-goal win.

The Mariners did very well and the local boys put on a great show. We would like to thank the crowd who turned up – close to 1,500 on a Thursday night was a great turnout!

When we had the Fans Forum a few weeks ago we asked for six fans to put their hands up to get involved in a fans committee, meeting with management from the club to discuss football issues and fans issues in monthly meetings. We had 17 fans put their hands up so we decided to have our first meeting at the Settlers Arms in Gosford last Tuesday.

It was very productive with a lot of good feedback from the fans. We also had Monique and Kath from Bluetongue Stadium come along. They answered many questions to make the visit to Bluetongue a better fan experience. We will be planning another meeting just before our first home game against Perth Glory on Sunday 14 October.

Central Coast Mariners play Victory at Knox Grammar on the weekend and the following weekend the team go to the Sunshine Coast to play against Brisbane Roar. It should be a great game on Sunday 23 September.

New signing Nick Montgomery will be available to travel to Queensland as he arrives mid week from Sheffield United. I am sure all Mariners fans will make Nick and his family very welcome on the Coast.

A big question from the fans is when the new kit will be released. Look out at the end of next week for a big announcement around the new kit! I must admit I am pretty impressed with what I have seen in the office.

Coastal Liner are running buses to the opening game of the season so go on the Mariners website, click the link and make a booking if you are wanting a relaxing trip down for the opening game of the season!

Hopefully I will see you at Knox at the weekend. We can-t wait for round 1 to roll round.
