Now, Central Coast Mariners are pleased to announce that we have joined forces with Pelé-s global football brand, Pelé-Sports, for two Hyundai A-League seasons in addition to the 2012 edition of the Asian Champions League.

As of today, Pelé-Sports has become the yellow and navy-s Official Footwear Supplier in a deal that Central Coast Mariners General Manager – Marketing and Commercial, Ned Negus, believes will benefit players from the Mariners Academy right through to the first team.

“Pelé-Sports is another great addition to our sponsor line-up,” Negus said. “This partnership really focuses on two key elements of what the Mariners are about – being active both in our immediate community and the global football arena.

“Pelé-Sports will utilise its association with us to become part of the footballing fabric in our region and around Australia, and we believe the association with one of the greatest players to ever have played the game will have positive benefits for us, too,” he said.

In addition to providing boot sponsorships to up-and-coming young stars in the Mariners Academy program, Pelé-Sports will be active on Mariners Hyundai A-League match days conducting some fun and unique promotions that will embody the path of the brilliant Brazilian.

“Our sponsors do a great job engaging with our fans, and in this case Pelé-Sports will be running a number of street football activities at our matches that we expect to be very popular,” Negus said.

The Managing Director of Pelé-Sports Australia is former Qantas Socceroo, Bruce James. James has been living in the Central Coast area for some 25 years, and believes the Mariners are an ideal starting point for the company in their quest to grow the Australian arm of their business.

“Pelé-Sports is looking to grow their global presence, brand awareness and sales aggressively in the next few years, and we see the Mariners as the perfect launch-pad for the Australian market,” James said.

“Pelé himself wants to be associated with elite football in Australia in a way that clearly filters down to semi-pro and amateur players.”

“With the Mariners Academy and progressing Centre of Excellence, we-ve identified an outlet to achieve cut-through within the football communities on the Central Coast, Northern Sydney and beyond,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Mariners will have an extremely unique piece of merchandise travelling back across the Atlantic in just a few weeks time.

This Tuesday, a Mariners home kit is being transported to Sao Paulo, Brazil, to be personally autographed by arguably the greatest player ever to lace up a football boot.

Pelé-Sports has a mobile van that will be selling products around the Coast, and also a warehouse at Erina that doubles as their Australian Head Office.

Pelé-Sports recently launched their technically advanced ‘Trinity’ boot and provide boots to Mariners Hyundai A-League midfielder John Hutchinson.
