Mariners players join flood relief effort

The Central Coast Mariners Playing Squad has voted to donate $1000 dollars to the Queensland Premier’s Flood Relief Appeal.

The Central Coast Mariners Playing Squad has voted to donate $1000 dollars to the Queensland Premier-s Flood Relief Appeal.

Captain Alex Wilkinson says it-s a small way the squad can do its bit to help those affected by the devastating floods.

“We-ve obviously been watching what is happening up in Queensland and all the boys know people up there so we thought we should do something to try to help out.

“It-s only a small amount but in these kind of situations every dollar is needed for people who have lost loved ones and property as they try to rebuild. It-s going to take a long time but our thoughts are with everyone affected,” said Wilkinson.

The $1000 donation comes on the back of the $7000 collected by Yellow Army volunteers, Mariners and Bluetongue Stadium staff at Wednesday-s Hyundai A-League clash against Brisbane Roar, as well as an auction offering dinner with Mariners Head Coach Graham Arnold and Football and Commercial Operations Manager Lawrie McKinna and tickets as guest of Mariners Chairman Peter Turnbull in the Chairman-s Lounge for the final home match of the season against Newcastle Jets on Sunday, 13 February which has already attracted over $800.

“We-d urge everyone to donate to the appeal, hopefully the waters recede soon and Queenslanders are able to rebuild,” said Wilkinson.
