The Central Coast Mariners Youth scored two late goals in quick succession to down the Newcastle Jets Youth 3-1 away from home in the Foxtel Y-League.

Jordan Smylie opened the scoring in the 34th minute to give the Mariners a first half lead, but all the action was to follow in the second half.

Smylie’s opener was a just reward for the Mariners who went close on several occasions throughout the first half.

The Jets Youth came out with a point to prove in the second half and earned their reward when substitute Cai Tipaldo dispatched an impressive goal from distance to make it 1-1 in the 75th minute.

However, Tipaldo’s goal wouldn’t deter the Mariners who continued to push for the winner. It came, courtesy of Smylie who doubled his individual tally for the afternoon when he fired home from close range to make it 2-1 to the Mariners.

There was more drama to follow and the Mariners made their result certain in the 97th minute when Charles M’Mombwa converted a cross from Miley Katsoulis to end the game 3-1 against the Newcastle Jets Youth.
