The Central Coast Mariners wrapped up the January transfer window on Friday, with a player departing before an exciting new arrival at the club was confirmed.

The Mariners confirmed that agreement was reached with Giancarlo Gallifuoco for the player to depart the Mariners and sign for another club.

Mariners CEO Shaun Mielekamp thanked Gallifuoco for his time with the club this season.

“Giancarlo approached the club and indicated a wish to explore an opportunity with another club, with the potential to play Asian Champions League football,” Mielekamp said.

“We have reached an agreement with Giancarlo, and everyone at the club wishes him all the best for his new endeavour and thank him for his time at the Mariners.”

The Mariners are delighted to announce the signing of experienced attacker Chris Harold to the Club, with the former Perth Glory and Gold Coast United attacker to join his new teammates next week.

Head Coach Alen Stajcic said Harold was an exciting signing, and a player who can make a difference at the Mariners.

“We have been keeping an eye on the market for a player who can add to our strength up front and who can give us a new dimension and we are delighted to have Chris join us at the Mariners,” Stajcic said.

“Chris is a dynamic player, and hopefully he will produce some of his speed and power for us in the remainder of the season.”

“I’ve had some great conversations with Chris about him coming to the Mariners, and we’re all looking forward to him arriving at the club and starting training next week.”

Harold will link up with the side ahead of next Sunday’s #F3Derby clash with the Newcastle Jets.
