Should the Mariners- Hyundai A-League 2008/09, Round 11 match up against Adelaide United at Bluetongue Stadium draw an attendance of 9,590, the aggregate attendance of all Mariners matches since season one will reach the half-million mark – an amazing achievement for a club that represents an immediate region of a little over 300,000 people.

Coming into Saturday-s match, the combined Bluetongue Stadium attendance for each of the Mariners- 51 competitive fixtures since 7 May 2005 is 490,410.

During such time, the largest ever attendance to witness a Mariners fixture is 19,238 – which was the figure recorded for the Mariners- Hyundai A-League 2007/08, Round 20 clash against northern rivals the Newcastle Jets.

The Mariners- all-time home attendance average currently sits at 9,615 – a figure that has been on the increase since the Mariners- inaugural Hyundai A-League season, when the yellow and navy finished their debut campaign with a home match average attendance of 7,898.

Furthermore, last Tuesday, 4 November, the Mariners celebrated four years since they were officially invited to join the inaugural Hyundai A-League season at the launch of the new era of Australian football at Darling Harbour-s IMAX theatre.

“We really hope to pass this unique milestone on Saturday, which will mark another very significant achievement in the history of the Mariners,” said Mariners Executive Chairman Lyall Gorman.

“Many of our Members, supporters and corporate partners, in addition to our playing group, coaching staff and administration, have been involved with the club in some capacity since that day at Darling Harbour four years ago and it really is amazing to take stock at times like these and reflect on all that we-ve achieved on and off field.

“We hope to see a significant attendance at Bluetongue Stadium on Saturday to help commemorate this milestone achievement with us, as we embark on the next four years of our journey, which I-m certain will provide us with even more highlights than the last four.”

The Mariners will resume their Hyundai A-League 2008/09 campaign at their Bluetongue Stadium home on Saturday, 15 November, when they host AFC Champions League finalists Adelaide United. Kick off is at 7.30pm.

Prior to the main game, the Mariners- National Youth League 2008/09 campaign will continue with a fixture against Adelaide United. Kick off is at 4.45pm, gates open at 4.30pm.
