Trent Sainsbury can’t wait for Saturday’s top-of-the-table clash!

CENTRAL Coast Mariners consolidated their place in second position on the Hyundai A-League ladder with a 2-1 win over Brisbane Roar at Bluetongue Stadium on Sunday.

Fans of the yellow and navy won-t have to wait long to see Graham Arnold-s men back in action at Gosford-s idyllic bayside arena, with the Mariners hosting John Kosmina-s ladder leading Adelaide United outfit this Saturday.

The top-of-the-table clash promises to provide fans of both sides and neutrals alike with first class Hyundai A-League round 9 entertainment, with the two form teams of Australia-s premier football competition going head to head.

Central Coast enjoyed a dominant record over the Reds in season seven of the Hyundai A-League, winning all three encounters between the two teams.

But the high-flying side from the city of churches are a far more difficult prospect this campaign, having recruited strongly over the off-season. Kosmina’s men also enjoyed a good run into season eight of Australia’s top flight courtesy of their impressive efforts in the 2012 AFC Champions League.

With Adelaide’s exciting foreign trio Jeronimo Neumann, Marcelo Carrusca and Fabio Ferreira set to feature for the visiting side, the Mariners will need to produce another structured and determined display if they’re to advance to the top of the table at the expense of their opponents.

Both teams are likely to have key men absent for the game, with Mariners guns Tomas Rogic and Mathew Ryan in the running to head to Hong Kong for the East Asian Football Federation (EAFF) East Asian Cup qualifiers with the Qantas Socceroos.

For Adelaide, midfielder Osama Malik, attacker Dario Vidosic and goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic are in the frame to travel away with Australia’s senior men’s National Team.

German mentor Holger Osieck will trim his training squad currently in camp in Sydney from 25 to 20 players later this week.
