After a late winner against Northern Tigers last weekend, Nick Montgomery’s side will take on the Jets in the Youth #F3Derby this Saturday at Lake Macquarie.

The Mariners lead the NPL2 standings after four rounds, on 10 points and ahead of NWS Spirit, and 10 points ahead of this weekend’s opponents at the foot of the table.

Mikey Katsoulis has starred so far with four goals on four matches and having scored 16 so far as a team the Mariners will be hard to stop this weekend.

The U/20’s clash with the Jets has been postponed through precautions regarding COVID-19, and first grade moved forward to 2pm.

Mariners fans are advised against travelling, and can instead watch the game for free on the NPL.tv platform.

A first loss of the season last week to Marconi brought Dan Barrett and the Mariners Academy Women’s back to second on the table, and this week they’re taking on table toppers Sutherland Shire in a massive game.

Barrett spoke of his disappointment with last week’s performance after that game and he’ll be hoping that those items can be amended this week against Sutherland.

However a mounting injury toll could prove problematic with all of Jordan Drysdale, Laura Schubert and Kiera Bainsfair possibly unavailable for Sunday’s outing away from home.

A win or draw here would leave the Women well placed approaching the half way mark of their games in this shortened campaign.
