AS the countdown to the end of the 2012 Season draws near, all Academy teams have had a busy schedule with their weekly games, training and also making up washed out games.

Last weekend saw the Academy’s Boys Super Youth League teams travel to the southern outskirts of Sydney to play Macarthur in Round 19 of the 22 round season.

The five Academy teams came away unbeaten with three wins and two draws. oth the Grade 13 Boys and Grade 15 Boys had to be content with draws whilst the stand out result of the day was a 5-1 win to the Grade 14 Boys.

Trent Buhagiar of the Grade 14 Boys secured four of the teams goals which sees Coach Glenn Hall’s team sitting comfortably in second spot behind Sydney University on the ladder with only a few weeks remaining in the regular season.

The Grade 16 Boys continued their charge for the minor premiership with a 3-0 win over Macarthur whilst the Grade 18 Boys came away with a 1-0 win which keeps them in the top five and looking promising for a position in the finals series.

Both the Grade 13 and Grade 14 Boys were required to back up on Sunday with games at Pluim against Bankstown City Lions.

The Grade 13 Boys again came away with a draw whilst the 14 Boys provided a repeat of Saturday’s score winning 5-1. Again Trent Buhagiar featured in the goal scoring list with another two goals – a total of six for the weekend. Adding to that list was Ethan Hall with two goals and Theo Forsberg rounding out the total to five.

Tuesday will see another washout played for the Academy Boys teams with the Grade 18 Boys home at Pluim Park to Bankstown City. A win or draw for the 18s will move them in to fourth on the 2012 ladder.

Next weekend sees all the Boys Academy teams having a double header with games at Pluim with Western NSW Mariners on Saturday the 4th August and then travel to Crest Reserve on Sunday afternoon to play Bankstown Berries.

It is busy and exciting times ahead for all boys teams as their combined results also sees the Academy vying with Sydney University for first place in the 2012 Boys Super Youth League Club Championship

The Girls and Women’s Academy teams travelled to Marconi on Sunday for their Round 19 games. Both the Grade 12 and 14 Girls came away with losses followed by a 1-1 draw in the 16 Girls, a win of 3-2 to the Reserve Grade Women and a 1-1 draw for the First Grade Women.

Next Sunday 5 August, the Girls and Women’s teams will be home at Pluim to play Manly FC. In the meantime, the Senior Women’s First Grade team travel to Valentine Sports Park on Thursday 2nd August to play a previously washed out fixture against the New South Wales Institute of Sport Women’s Team.

The Girls and Women’s Teams are also heading in to their last few weeks of the regular season with all teams wanting to achieve positive results in their remaining games against Manly (Pluim), NWS Koalas (away) and Interlions (Pluim).
