THE 2013 Damien Brown Medal awarded by the management committee of Central Coast Men of Football will presented on Saturday evening following the Mariners- clash with Melbourne Heart.

The Damien Brown Medal recognises Central Coast Men of Football-s Central Coast Mariners Player of the Year and, as its title suggests, is named after foundation Mariners- player Damien Brown.

Brown was the first player signed by the Mariners for the Hyundai A-League following the Club-s foundation in 2004.

The locally born and bred footballer, who still plays for Lake Macquarie in the Northern NSW State League, started playing representative football for the Central Coast at the age of 10.

Brown played first grade for the former Central Coast Coasties in the NSW State League, and also represented Newcastle United, Canberra Cosmos and Parramatta Power in the Hyundai A-League predecessor, the National Soccer League.

To this day, Brown remains a key cog in the Central Coast Mariners staff. Currently holding the position of Youth Development Coordinator, Brown works tirelessly on programs including, but not limited to, Newcastle Permanent MarinersActive, School Holiday Clinics, and Development Programs.

Going beyond the call of duty, Brown acts as a team liaison officer for visiting Asian sides from Japan, China and Korea Republic throughout the Central Coast Mariners- AFC Champions League campaigns.

The presentation of the inaugural Damien Brown Medal will be held following the Central Coast Mariners- round 27 Hyundai A-League fixture with Melbourne Heart this Saturday 30 March, 2013. Kick-off in the game is 5:30pm.

Visit the Kendall Bar at Central Coast Leagues Club directly across from Bluetongue Stadium after the match to find out which current Mariners player will be honoured with the 2013 Damien Brown Medal.
