11. Dylan Macallister
Australian youth international Macallister returned home to join the Mariners after four seasons in Norway’s top flight. Macallister stands among the tallest players in the Hyundai A-League at 193cm and moved abroad upon the demise of the National Soccer League, firstly with SK Brann and most recently with FC Lyn Oslo. Macallister was one of the jewels discovered at the 1999 FIFA Under-17 World Cup in New Zealand, where Australia famously progressed through to the final against Brazil, with the giant striker contributing six goals in 16 qualifying, friendly and World Cup matches, including one against the Brazilians at the group stage. Macallister again starred at restricted age international level with the Qantas Under 23’s – netting six goals in as many qualifying matches, including a hat-trick against Fiji to help shore up Australia’s place at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. 2007 saw Macallister conclude his tenure in Norway for Lyn with a memorable match winning goal in the Norwegian Cup fourth round against Bodø/Glimt.
