Former Wyoming junior McAndrew became the landmark tenth Central Coast born and raised player to sign with their hometown club upon being unveiled as the final addition to the Mariners’ playing roster for the Hyundai A-League 2007/08 season. McAndrew’s acquisition capped off a fairytale period for the diminutive defender, who as recently as 2006 was playing in the Central Coast Premier League. McAndrew was first introduced to the Mariners set up in April, 2007, when he first appeared in a trial match against the Central Coast Lightning in the inaugural Central Coast Challenge Cup. One month later, McAndrew was a key member of the Mariners’ charge to the final of the Philips Lighting Soccer 7’s. The historic first Mariners player to have been selected from the Mariners Youth Academy, McAndrew’s selection provides Football Manager Lawrie McKinna with a further selection headache in midfield and defence.
