30. Andrew Redmayne
One of the genuinely exciting products to have emerged from the local scene in recent years, Redmayne’s signing with his hometown club ahead of the third Hyundai A-League season was a significant coup for the Mariners, considering the massive wraps on the Qantas Young Socceroos’ (Under 20’s) glove man. Redmayne first came to prominence with the New South Wales Institute of Sport in 2005 before graduating to the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in time for their 2007 campaign in Victoria’s Foxtel Cup. Intertwined with Redmayne’s commitments with the AIS was a starring role for the Qantas Young Socceroos, as they commenced their march towards the 2008 AFC Youth Championships. Redmayne contributed to Australia’s preliminary round success against Indonesia, Vietnam, Guam and the Korea Republic to secure the Qantas Young Socceroos’ passage through to Saudi Arabia. Another custodian to have emerged from the stable of Mariners Goalkeeper Coach John Crawley, big things are expected of this giant local product for season four and beyond.
