Few, if any, have accumulated as much football experience in Australia than Mariners Assistant Coach Tobin. No player belonging to any sporting code in Australia has made more domestic league appearances than Tobin and none of the 500-plus Qantas Socceroos to have worn the green and gold have made more appearances for their country. Tobin’s career started with hometown club Adelaide City in 1984 and from the time of his debut as a 19-year-old, Tobin was unrelenting in accumulating caps for club and country, retiring in 2004 with an astonishing 635 appearances to his name in ‘A’ and ‘B’ internationals and in the National Soccer League. In the field of coaching, Tobin has been Development Manager at the Mariners since day one and has held various positions with representative teams throughout this time, including leading the Australian Beach Soccer team to their maiden FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup appearance in 2005 and assisting Football Federation Australia Technical Director Rob Baan for the Qantas Socceroos’ friendly against Nigeria in London in November 2007.
