Telstra to power Mariners Club Nights

Club Night

The 2017 edition of Central Coast Mariners ‘Club Nights’ kicked off this week and is proudly powered by Telstra who have pledged their support behind our iconic grassroots football initiative for the second year running. Thanks, Telstra!

‘Club Nights’ have been a feature of the Central Coast Mariners since day one that sees the full squad visit every local club on the Coast over a two-year cycle. During our visit the Mariners players run a range of coaching sessions and hand out a variety of Mariners merchandise.

For the second season running, ‘Club Nights’ will be powered by Telstra with the telecommunications company committing to providing all participating children with Telstra freebies.

Whilst the full Central Coast Mariners squad will run a clinic for 100 kids, the coaches of the local teams will take part in a coach the coaches session ran by Club Captain Nick Montgomery.

Each coach will be given a Mariners’ Coaching Handbook & Coaches' Session Planner which provides local coaches with drills, set pieces and tactics they can implement during training sessions and on game day. The Session Planner also includes sections to fill out during the season such as team lists and formations.

This season the Central Coast Mariners full squad will visit: Tuggerah United, Gosford City, Gwandalan, Kanwal, Avoca, Killarney Districts, Kincumber, Southern & Ettalong, Terrigal United, Wyoming, The Entrance Bateau Bay, Budgewoi & Umina

Central Coast Mariners CEO Shaun Mielekamp thanked Telstra for their support and noted that during his time in sport he has not seen a grassroots initiative like this.

“Our Club Nights initiative is one that the Mariners are really proud of and with the support of Telstra we have been able to take it to that next level,” Mielekamp said. “It is absolutely fantastic that the kids on the Coast get to meet their idols from the Mariners, but also participate in a one hour training session with the entire squad.

“The Mariners have always prided themselves upon setting the bar high with community engagement and to have a corporate partner like Telstra partner up on what is one of our most important community projects is great news and we can’t thank them enough,” Mielekamp said.

“This season our Club Nights also include a coach the coaches element which is something that we are really excited about and allows us to assist grassroots coaches on the Central Coast whilst the kids are able to have a kick with their favourite Mariners players,” Mielekamp said.

Telstra have been a corporate partner of the Central Coast Mariners for three seasons and have stores located at Erina, Tuggerah, Bateau Bay, Woy Woy and Lakehaven.
